Lancaster sets her latest novel in the same territory as her humorous memoirs, the tony North Shore suburbs of Chicago. Kitty and Jacqueline (Jack) are as different as night and dayKitty is a judgmental, pampered homemaker who blogs about her Pinterest-worthy North Shore Nancy life, while tough-as-nails tomboy Jack is a Pulitzer-nominated journalist who covers conflicts in the Middle East. The only thing they can agree on is that they would drop everything to come to the aid of their mutual best friend, Sarabeth. When Sarabeth's wealthy husband disappears in a boating accident, Kitty and Jack suspect foul play and are forced to work together to get to the bottom of things. The narrative shifts from the past (when the three women were college roommates) to the present, and the laughs multiply exponentially, leading to a zany twist ending. But there are moments with real heart as well, such as Jack's backstory of growing up without her mother. Lancaster's fans will snap this up, as will readers who enjoy madcap comedy.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2015, American Library Association.)
