Buchman follows The Night Is Mine with another rousing mix of romance and military action thrills. Sgt. Keiko “Kee” Smith reports for duty at a forward airbase in the Pakistan mountains. She’s the new gunner on a tricked-out DAP Hawk helicopter piloted by Maj. Emily Beale, the only other female member of the Special Operations Aviation Regiment, and co-piloted by impossibly sexy and improbably named Lt. Archibald Jeffrey “Archie” Stevenson III. Kee envies Beale’s chemistry with her husband, also a major, but assumes Beale married her way to the top. Determined to prove that she earned her position, Kee pulls off an A-plus performance on her first mission, gaining the team’s admiration—and custody of Dilyana, an orphaned 11-year-old girl rescued from the firefight. As Kee slowly bonds with Dilyana and falls for Archie, Buchman blends tender feelings with military politics and action to keep readers riveted.

Buchman's "Night Stalkers" series is high-octane military romance featuring the men and women of SOAR (160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment). When Delta troops or SEALs need to go in, or get out, SOAR gets them where they have to be and pulls their assets out of the fire--often while taking fire. These helicopter pilots are the best of the best, and no one gets accepted without years of medal-winning experience. When these men and women face the enemy together, day after day, the best fall for the best--and the army is smart enough to let them serve together. The women here are every bit the warriors that the men are. They all have the chance to rescue one another and find their happily ever after with someone who understands what they stand for and who they are. So far, there are 15 books and ebooks in this series. Buchman keeps the action going as well in two spin-offs. "Delta Force" features special ops heroes still in uniform, and "Firehawks" follows the careers of the "Night Stalkers" as they transition into civilian life as a wildfire-fighting outfit.

Sharpshooter Sergeant Keiko Kee Smith, a fearless warrior, is the second woman to be admitted into the elite S.O.A.R. program, and one of the best helicopter gunners around, male or female. Kee comes from the streets, and her court-ordered military service has saved her life in more ways than one. First Lieutenant Archibald Jeffrey Stevenson III, Black Hawk helicopter copilot, comes from a life of wealth and privilege. On the surface, no two people could be more different, but their core values of loyalty, courage, and honor, as well as their mutual attraction, make them more similar than people realize. Several life-and-death situations draw them closer than ever, but once they leave the battlefields of the Middle East, will their differences define them? The second book in Buchman's exciting Night Stalker series (The Night Is Mine, 2012) is filled with action, adventure, and danger. Characters from the first book play pivotal roles in this story. Buchman's novels will appeal to readers who like romances as well as fans of military fiction.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2012, American Library Association.)
