The listener is immediately drawn into the world of the psy-changelings by narrator Angela Dawe. Bear changeling Valentin Nikolaev has been subtly courting psy Silver Mercant. He is there when an attempt is made on her life. To protect her, he brings her to his bear clan. The story is set in Russia, and Dawe handles the accents with ease. She brings the audiobook to life with characters ranging from emotionless psys to exuberant bear cub changelings.
