Now he works in a small North Carolina clinic to atone for his sins of pride, hoping that his estranged wife who has fled to the West Coast will forgive him. While Nichols is a master at creating complex, intriguing characters in difficult relationships, her newest title is not as enthralling as last year's If I Gained the World . Still, the literary quality is above average and worth checking out. Readers who lean toward Nicholas Sparks's relationship dramas (A Walk To Remember; Message in a Bottle ) will enjoy getting lost in this emotion-packed tale. For most collections.
