Harry Kemelman's Rabbi Small murder mysteries are always entertaining but, like any series, some books are more "schleppy" than others. MONDAY THE RABBI TOOK OFF is perhaps the weakest of all the novels. That said, it's still entertaining, particularly with George Guidall as narrator. Guidall captures the various characters with such precision that he sounds like an ensemble. In particular, he portrays the nuances that make Rabbi Small so endearing. He also excels at bringing to life the many personalities of Barnard's Crossing and Jerusalem in a way that will mesmerize listeners as the rabbi finds himself involved in an international incident. Guidall's performance is flawless, yet again. D.J.S. (c) AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine
