After being attacked, Maxi Nevar knows she needs help. She turns to former MMA fighter, now bodyguard, Miles Dartman. Narrator Alexander Cendese draws the listener into the mystery of who is tormenting Maxi and why. Maxi has inherited her grandmother's farm, along with 30 cats. Maxi and Miles had a prior sexual relationship, which rekindles, and Cendese fully expresses the passion that rages between them. But when Cendese delivers the female dialogue, he tends toward a nasal quality that can be distracting. However, he does a fine job with the male voices and the narrative.
