One of the last of several teachers who had traveled from the East Coast to work in the Washington wilderness, Alexandrina Fosgrave, badly in need of a fresh start, is relieved when James Wallin wants to hire her for the new school at Wallin's Landing. But when Rina is tendered a position in another town, James offers to escort her. For propriety's sake, they contrive a pretend engagement--never dreaming that it would actually lead to marriage. Horse thieves, bandits, bears, and assorted difficulties add to the fun as the family joker meets his match at the hands of a plucky "princess." VERDICT Absorbing, touching, and heartwarming, this lively, gently humorous faith-based frontier adventure is a refreshing addition to Scott's latest series and should appeal to readers of both inspirational and sweet historical romance. Scott (Would-Be Wilderness Wife) lives in Tacoma.
