Phyllida Nash narrates a story that transports the listener to a quiet home in rural Cornwall that is soon to be disrupted by a sinister figure from the past. Nash's British accent adds to the atmosphere, and she's adept using tone, pace, and an impressive vocal range to identify the various characters while slowly and steadily ratcheting up the tension. Siblings Billa and Ed live quiet lives in their old family home until a series of postcards, "blasts from the past," arrives and upsets their balanced lives. Nash moves from past to present smoothly, slowly revealing the sinister character and ugly past they would have preferred to keep buried. N.E.M. (c) AudioFile 2014, Portland, Maine
