Bestseller Walker (Full Throttle) launches her Deep Six series with this winning romantic thriller. It opens with a terrifying glimpse of the treasure ship Santa Cristina sinking in a 1624 hurricane, then switches to the present day. Former Lt. Leo Anderson, along with five other SEALs turned civilians, are on a tiny island in the Florida Keys, preparing to locate the lost ship and salvage the treasure. CIA operative Olivia Mortier, who worked with Leo 18 months earlier, asks him to help retrieve three capsules of deadly chemicals that were lost overboard by incompetent terrorists. Complications abound in this well-plotted adventure of chilling hijackings, heartbreaking good-byes, and exciting underwater exploits. Walker blends the tender romance of a reassuring touch with lusty sex scenes, and her dialogue is spot-on. Readers will be panting for the next in the series. In the first book of the Deep Six series, retired SEAL Leo Anderson and his former team have started a salvage operation in Florida. In the midst of preparing to go after a Spanish galleon, he is asked by CIA agent Olivia Mortier to help recover three containers of chemicals lost overboard during a mission involving al-Qaeda. Leo and his team end up confronting the unfriendlies during the recovery, and he and Olivia have to face their attraction for each other, marred only by her guilt over being the reason one of his team was killed in the previous mission. Their attraction leads to some of the steamiest sex scenes of the many sex scenes in SEALs military romance stories and ultimately results in the requisite happily-ever-after ending for the lovers, with the bad guys getting their just desserts and hints of a budding romance for another team member.
