The City of Mirrors

After a century in postapocalyptic Texas, people have become complacent about the "virals" (vampires) beyond the walls of the cities and have begun to move outside. This book plays to a number of Scott Brick's strengths as a narrator--especially his prodigious ability to deliver detailed exposition as skillfully as he does fast-paced dialogue and action. He's also expert at portraying the emotions of characters. As Fanning (Patient Zero) tells the story of how he was infected as a viral, Brick controls the suspense masterfully. The last in a trilogy, CITY OF MIRRORS stands on its own, although the background of the other books likely would be useful. J.E.M. © AudioFile 2016, Portland, Maine
