Beth Harding has worked hard to keep her life under control until her 16-year-old daughter, Jo, runs away from home and Beths marriage falls apart. Although she has received e-mails from Jo, Beth is afraid to press her about her life lest she lose contact with her. Jo is not the only person who disappeared on Beth; 35 years ago, her brother vanished. While watching a popular British television program, Beth sees an episode where the host, Pete Newbury, demonstrates a new computer program that can take a photo of an adult and regress the image to a young age. He demonstrates this on himself and the image looks just like her missing brother. When Beth tracks down Pete Newbury, he is belligerent toward her and scoffs at her claim, straining the budding relationship she has with Petes manager and cousin. As if this is not enough drama, Jo reenters her life and introduces Beth to her grandson. Jacobs once again gives her readers an engrossing story as her resilient heroine discovers the true meaning of family.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2010, American Library Association.)
