Divorced single mom Ava barely makes ends meet with child support and a part-time job at the local newspaper in St. Jude, LA. Getting the kids off to school in the morning is challenging, and the annoying dad who blocks the preschool entrance every day with his pickup truck adds to her irritation. Then she encounters the bothersome yet handsome dad, aka Ford, at his cafe, where he's a cook. Over the best po'boy she's ever eaten, Ava realizes she just might want to take a chance on Ford.
