The Apostles

Solomon Shawn has led the Chicago street gang the Apostles with a legendary reign. Now he wants to retire, but circumstances beyond his control draw him in for one last fight. Moore's years as a gang member bring street cred to this novel through its language, action, and plot. JD Jackson brings power and frailty to the main characters, black men on both sides of the law. Jackson's genius lies not only in his skill as the creator of an ensemble of voices, but also in his mastery of emotional timbre.
