As a young girl from the Amish community in Apple Grove, Rebecca Switzer fell in love with a cowboy. Four years later. the now-adult Rebecca decides to find the man to whom she lost her heart. She travels to Lawrence, KS, where she gets caught up in a temperance riot. Sheriff Colin Maddox, who wants nothing more than to leave law enforcement and start a church, can't believe that the woman he has just arrested is really Amish. VERDICT This wonderful, character-driven historical novel is full of romance, suspense, and humor. Though it's the second book in the series (The Heart's Frontier), it stands just fine on its own. Cindy Woodsmall fans will enjoy.
