But in 1812 Simon St. Bride has married her to fulfill a dying man's last wish, and the couple faces numerous challenges and adventures before the truth is revealed. Simon Prebble navigates easily through aborted duels, murder on the high seas, and court intrigue. His expertise with local accents masters rural Canadians as well as members of the British aristocracy, and he flavor some exquisite scenes of passion with suitable bodice-ripping tension.
