The Spymistress

Christina Moore introduces listeners to heroine Elizabeth (Lizzie) Van Lew, born in Virginia in the 1800s to a slave-holding upper-crust family. Moore escorts a determined Lizzie on her rebellious journey against the Confederate command during the Civil War after Virginia secedes from the Union. Lizzie's uncompromising loyalty to the Lincoln White House results in her using her status to orchestrate the passing of military intelligence to the Union. Her clandestine activities place her in additional danger as she assists escaped Union prisoners.
