In Glass's third paranormal set in modern-day Atlanta (after Shadow Chase and Shadow Blade), powerful Shadowchaser Kira Solomon learns the truth of her parentage. Kira already knew she wasn't human, thanks to her gift of instantly learning the history of the people she touches. Now her powers are changing and she feels the draw of the Shadow, though she has vowed to stay true to the Light. When several of Kira's friends and acquaintances succumb to a strange illness, Kira must find a cure and prove that she has not gone over to the dark side. Glass throws out names and events from previous titles in the series without adequate references, running the risk of confusing even returning readers, and the plot never quite stands alone, making this one strictly for the fans.
