Kitchens of the Great Midwest meets Ghost Whisperer in this charming rom-com with a supernatural twist. Sabrina Monroe wants nothing to do with her family's charge to help the recently deceased complete their unfinished business, but she'd still rather talk to the dead than to most living people outside her family. She's been forced to return home to her parents' house in the Wisconsin Dells after severe anxiety led to the end of her job as a journalist, and now she'd do almost anything to get out again--including taking a job working for the horrible bully of her teenage years. But now, after a somewhat painful meet-cute at a water park, newly arrived restaurateur Ray Jasper has her questioning whether she really wants to leave the Dells after all--and if she could ever trust him with her deepest secrets. Filled with a strong sense of place, mouthwatering descriptions of food, and a sweet love story (or two), Reichert's latest (after The Optimist's Guide to Letting Go, 2018) will surely delight readers. A great read-alike for Sophie Kinsella's Twenties Girl (2009).

For the women of Sabrina Monroe's family, seeing ghosts is an everyday occurrence; it's part of their birthright to help spirits with unfinished business. But for Sabrina, it has been the bane of her existence, ever since her first ghost interrupted a presentation at school and earned her the nickname "Psycho Sabrina." Keeping her family's gift a secret is a top priority for Sabrina as she moves back to the Wisconsin Dells to save up money to pay off her college debt. With the help of hunky, sweet Ray (the new owner of the Otter Club, a supper club on the river) who she can't stop running into, and her ghostly best friend Molly, Sabrina begins to take steps to address her anxiety and panic attacks. Charming moments between Ray and Sabrina are mixed in with a mystery from Ray's family history, and Sabrina's dealings with a bully from her childhood. The book's supporting characters are just as developed and interesting as Sabrina and Ray, and they lend humor, wisdom, and snark at just the right moments. VERDICT A delightful read for fans of light paranormal romances or cozy romances in general.--Courtney Pentland, Omaha, NE
