Oscar Nelson hates his job. Answering phones as a customer service representative has only increased Oscar's already out-of-control level of anxiety and given him even more panic attacks. Why then is Oscar upset when he is unexpectedly laid off? Because it means that he will have to search for a new job, which is even more anxiety-inducing. So when the paid opportunity to help Jack Phillips clean out his grandmother's home presents itself, Oscar figures, why not? The money he earns will give Oscar some breathing room before he needs to find a new job. In addition, while Jack can be a complete jerk, he is totally hot, and he does offer Oscar a very special job benefit one doesn't usually get from one's employer. Ripper builds on all the literary pluses displayed in The Love Study (2020) with another boldly sensual M/M love story that compassionately yet honestly incorporates issues such as mental health and body image into a romance that also proudly extols the values of inclusivity, family, and friendship.
