A Perfect Knight for Love

Amalie Ellincourt, an earl’s daughter, is deep in denial about the reality of life for women in 1689, but she gets a rude awakening in this haphazard romance. Amalie flees London to escape an unpleasant betrothal, only to trip and fall right into a Scottish feud. Thayne MacGowan is trying to save a pregnant woman from her abusive husband; when she dies giving birth, he kidnaps Amalie, who poses as his wife and the mother of the child. Completely naïve, Amalie has no idea that masquerading as Thayne’s wife means she’d actually be married to him under Scottish law. She may be beautiful, but her naïveté gets tiresome pretty quickly, as does the frequency with which men threaten to rape and beat her. It’s clear why she would fall in love with a chivalrous man like Thayne, but not why he would care for a spoiled young woman who fights him every step of the way.
