Reykjavik Nights

Narrator George Guidall is at his very best as he narrates this prequel to the highly regarded mystery series featuring Inspector Erlendur. It's 1974, and Erlendur is beginning his police career as a traffic cop. Guidall captures the kindness and persistence of the young man, who, unlike his superiors, cannot ignore that Hannibal, a homeless man found dead, may have been murdered. Listeners join the police as they experience the humor, sorrow, and terror of day-to-day crime. As Erlendur investigates on his own, we hear him question an array of believable homeless drunks, and we also learn about the inspector's personal life and get a closer view of Reykjavik, especially at night.
