In this 14th installment of Clark's (www.carolhigginsclark.com) Regan Reilly mystery series, after Wrecked (2010)--also available from Recorded Books/S. & S. Audio--PI Regan and her famous-author mother, Nora, become concerned when they are asked to attend a garage sale and discover mysteriously for sale all of the possessions of missing actress Cleo Paradise. Regan has just wrapped up an investigation of a close friend's boyfriend, who turned out to be seeing another woman, to whom he had proposed. Amazingly, Regan finds the new fiancee working at the garage sale. Regan is quickly drawn into a search for Cleo and must sort through several jealous suspects to try to save her. This is one for series fans; it is assumed that listeners are familiar with the characters, as the story moves quickly and somewhat choppily from one event to the next. Tony Award-winning actress Michelle Pawk, as narrator, makes the best of the material.
