Berneis lends the mystery warmth and humor, and the author imparts interesting details on bookbinding and restoration. Savannah's ex-boyfriend, Baxter, hosts a gala to celebrate the opening of his new restaurant, and she asks Brooklyn to restore a rare and valuable eighteenth-century cookbook as a gift for the occasion.
