Along with her feisty sidekick Pokey Bayless Riggs, Annajane Hudgens attends ex-husband Mason Bayless’s wedding confident that she is over him and happy that he’s moving on. She’s also over their sleepy town of Passcoe, N.C., and ready to leave with tepid fiancé Shane. But during the ceremony, her old feelings for Mason return, and just as she’s about to tell him, Mason’s daughter’s sudden stomach pains cut the wedding short. Given time to sort out their feelings, Annajane and Mason confront the problems that led to their breakup, their enduring love, and their shared commitment to the family business, a soda company called Quixie that is being targeted for a takeover by hostile members of Mason’s family. Mason and Annajane must reconcile themselves to their rekindled love, save Quixie, and overcome their past. Though unmemorable, Andrew’s latest (after Summer Rental) is an enjoyable escape. Agent: Stuart Krichevsky Agency.

Andrews' latest romance serves up a tale about love, duplicity and second chances in this entertaining novel set in the Deep South. Advertising executive Annajane Hudgens is both excited and nervous about her future. In five days, she'll be leaving her rural hometown in Passcoe, N.C., and traveling to Atlanta to start a new job and a promising life with her fiance, bluegrass musician Shane Drummond. She has a few loose ends to tie up before she goes, including selling her loft and attending the marriage of rich and socially prominent Mason Bayless to beautiful and glamorous Celia Wakefield. Mason is the president of his family-owned business, the Quixie Beverage Company, and he also just happens to be Annajane's boss and ex-husband. Celia, a newcomer to the company with a mysterious past, may have won his heart in a few short months, but she's also managed to alienate Annajane and her best friend, Pokey, Mason's spirited and outspoken sister. When an emergency interrupts the wedding ceremony, Annajane discovers that leaving Passcoe might not be as easy as she envisioned. Her unresolved feelings for Mason resurface, and it appears that Mason may share those feelings. As Annajane grapples with her emotions and the truth about her former marriage, she finds herself pitted against the manipulative Celia and her hostile former mother-in-law, Sallie. Both have reason to want Annajane to leave town, but just how far will each of these women go to control Mason and, through him, the future of Quixie Cola and the Bayless family? Enriched with Southern charm, character and colloquialisms, the author creates an appealing story full of unique personalities and clever plot twists. Andrews delivers a satisfying read that will leave a taste as tangy, delicious and sweet as an ice-cold bottle of Quixie soda.

Andrews follows her big hit Summer Rental (2011) with another charmer set in the South. Annajane is set to leave Passcoe, North Carolina, behind, along with her memories of her ex-husband, Mason, and her job at his family business, Quixie Soda. Then Mason's wedding to perfectly polished business consultant Celia is unexpectedly disrupted when his daughter, Sophie, needs an emergency appendectomy. Annajane wonders if fate has intervened to bring them back together. She and Mason's sister, Pokey, her best friend, plot how to expose Celia as a gold digger who is trying to undermine Quixie. Annajane and Mason finally confront what drove them apart and admit that they still love each other, but it means uncovering some long-buried family secrets. Andrews deftly combines a winsome love story and compelling family drama, and the idyllic small-town setting and surprising twists and turns are tailor-made for laid-back summer pleasure reading.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2012, American Library Association.)
