Evil Behind That Door

Handyman Cedric "Rick" O'Toole hates working for drunken bully Barry Mitchell, but he needs the cash. Barry's family home is in gross disrepair and Barry needs to fix it up if he hopes to sell it. The problem is that Barry's parents disappeared in a snowstorm months earlier. Since Barry is an ex-con, the police are still snooping around, trying to ascertain whether he had anything to do with their disappearance. When Rick discovers a secret room in the basement, trouble follows. Perhaps Jessica Swan, the pretty constable, can help. VERDICT Fradkin successfully brings back her handyman/inventor hero in his second outing (after The Fall Guy). He might make mistakes but he stays on track to be sure justice is met. Plenty of suspense and action are packed into a short and satisfying story.
