The fourth Children of the Moon installment (after Moon Burning) blends paranormal elements, the Scottish Highlands, and a passionate and emotionally riveting romance. Ciara is Chrechte, an ancient race of shape-shifters, and is one of the Faol, a group that can take on wolf form. When just 12 years old, Ciara observes her brother’s death, and her report of it leads her mother to commit suicide. Seven years later, Ciara’s vow to never care about anyone again is tested by Eirik, prince of the Ean raven-shifters. The Chrechte have started intermingling with humans for their survival, and Ciara learns that she alone has the power to save the entire race from extinction. Monroe draws stunningly evocative images of the experience of shifting shape, tender scenes between Ciara and her adoptive parents, sweet romances between side characters (including same-sex couples), and powerful passion between Eirik and Ciara. This engaging tale is utterly captivating from start to finish.
