Quinn, half-werewolf, half vampire and retired demon hunter has left Providence, RI, and the employ of Mean Mister B to hide out in New York. She's been a kept woman for a while, living with (and drinking from) an accountant with a BDSM predilection. Her sugar momma can't compete with the dangerous mystery that is Selwyn, a thief and a liar whose troubles quickly become Quinn's problem. VERDICT Violence, sex, copious swearing, and gore mean this is not a series (Blood Oranges; Red Delicious) for tender sensibilities. Tierney (who also writes as Caitlin R. Kiernan) brings her usual talent to even the most earthy and splattery bits here, and if you don't mind a lot of breaking of the fourth wall for her heroine to address the reader, these books might be just the ticket for a jaded urban fantasy palate.
