Stalked by Flames

Marguerite Gavin's narration takes off at a swift pace from the very start as she brings the feisty Bailey to life in this first book of a new series. On college graduation day, the earth shakes, but instead of it being an earthquake, Bailey and her friends find that dragons and dragon shape shifters have crossed into their world. Gavin contrasts Bailey's Texas accent and the Southern accents of her friends with the flat and the less expressive accent of the shape shifters, particularly that of Aiden, who becomes Bailey's teacher in the art of killing dragons. Drawing out the tension among the shape shifters, Gavin also portrays their uncertainty as they try to adjust to having to depend upon humans for the first time.
