AudioFile Magazine
Harry Kemelman's murder mysteries, featuring Rabbi David Small, are always quick and entertaining reads, and they're just as much fun on audio, especially with George Guidall as narrator. Someone is murdered in Barnard's Crossing, and it is Rabbi Small who solves the crime. Guidall's reading complements the material beautifully. He reads with an easygoing style that captures Rabbi Small's personality and brings all of Kemelman's other familiar characters to life. Clearly, Guidall enjoys the story, and he provides Malcolm Kent, who is eventually murdered, with enough arrogance that the listener has no remorse, and is probably a bit pleased, when Kent turns up dead.
