Traveling to Cripple Creek, CO, Vivian Sinclair hopes to escape her sordid past in Maine. She knows that she'll never find anyone willing to marry her, but she hopes she will at least be able to find rewarding work. Those hopes are dashed when she is forced to take a job as the hostess in a brothel, where she is exposed to the criminal element in town. When a death occurs, Vivian worries that she'll be next and flees, only to be captured by the outlaw responsible. Can the sheriff find her? Can he accept her past? VERDICT This is an easy read that will interest those who enjoy Western romances. Recommended for readers of Lori Wick and series fans.
