She Wants It

Jill Soloway narrates her memoir about the creation of the TV series "Transparent" and the transformation in her life that flowed from her father's decision to identify as transgender. She tells the story of the creation of the show and the struggle to find an outlet for what became a Golden Globe and Emmy-winning production. In addition to discussing the politics of the decision to cast a non-transgender man as her father, she communicates her growing understanding of the importance of including transgender actors, writers, and production crew in order to maintain the authenticity of the show and gain the acceptance of the transgender community.
