In this audiobook, narrator Amanda Carlin does a fine job of giving Ford a voice and personality infused with that strength of mind. Listeners may be surprised to learn that Ford's passion was dance. She grew up wanting to be a dancer, but when she and Gerald Ford married, she gave up her dream to fulfill his. Carlin's tone and intonation express Ford's struggle with making this choice. She was a devoted wife, mother, and cancer survivor who also conquered her addictions. Carlin's admiration for her subject is apparent in her performance.
